From their first taste of trail events in 2014, Robyn and Jeremy were hooked. The community, the vibes, the excitement to knock off the big goal - it had it all.
Jeremy gave Riverhead Backyard Ultra a go in 2021, and described it as humbling. With borrowed gear, and no idea what to expect, it was a baptism for fire for both the runner and the support crew.
The cancellation of Tarawera in 2022 led to a quick decision to give it another go - and off he went to Pigs Backyard Ultra.
A regular on the Backyard Ultra circuit now, Jeremy gets what it means to line up at the start line and give it your all.

The start of Kits & Bits Events
A conversation with Helen & Chris from His & Hers Events at Arrowtown BYU in 2025 was the start of Kits & Bits Events. After launching their business in 2023, Helen & Chris were after someone to take over the South Island side of things.
Robyn & Jeremy had been watching what they had created and thought it was exactly what the sport needed. Someone to come in, set up everything you need, and then pack it up later so you can travel to events and not stress about the gear.
A few weeks later, it was all confirmed - Kits & Bits Events was set up, equipment was purchased and we were ready to go.
Having both been on the support crew, and the event participant side of things, we get how important the gear is. Having everything you need, ready to go so you can turn up knowing you can rely on the kits and the bits.
